MOAMMAR KHADAFY: 1977-2011 -- Ousted Libyan dictator Moammar Khadafy was captured and died of his wounds on Oct. 20. A wounded Khadafy was captured near his hometown of Sirte after Libyan fighters seized control of his final stronghold. Differing accounts have emerged over how the brutal dictator finally met his end. Graphic videos circulating the internet show a crowd of fighters pulling their former leader from his hideout in a filthy sewage pipe and pushing him onto the hood of a pickup truck, where they punch him and pull his head down by the hair. Khadafy, who has ruled Libya for more than four decades, had been on the run for several months.
