Spandahlem Air Base - Germany

I lived in Germany between 1964 and  1967.  My Father was stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base.

Click on the picture above to see a picture of Spangdahlem AB and Binsfeld, Germany.  We lived on the "economy" the first year we were there.  This picture is much newer and the little village of Binsfeld has certainly developed over the last 40 years. I remember watching local farmers butcher hogs right out in the open.  Also, the farmland was outside of town, but they kept any domesticated animals where they lived: so there were manure piles outside the houses.  Weird, smelly and strange !

This is an overview of the housing area on base.  It appears much has changed.  The middle school which I attended 8th grade (also had 7th Grade) doesn't appear to be the same.  Our housing was directly across from the school and the AYA (American Youth Association).  We listened to the Beatles, played foosball, etc.
